VOLUNTEER HOURS -- HOW TO ENTER AND KEEP TRACK
VOLUNTEER HOURS -- HOW TO ENTER AND KEEP TRACK
Volunteer hours are logged to keep track of total hours for the program and also for the volunteers so that they know their volunteer status.
NOTE: IDOC is currently changing many of their volunteer policies including tracking volunteer service hours in the later part of 2026. This page was written in late July of 2026, and it will be updated as policies change.
HOW TO ENTER YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS
Your volunteer hours are monitored by your "I'm volunteering this day at this facility" entry into the SCHEDULE which is kept within a Google sheet.
Enter your name into the cell for the correct day and location you are volunteering for.
NOTE: It is very important that you enter your name into the session you are signing up for entering in your name EXACTLY how it is shown in the top line of the spreadsheet.
This is critical because all of the automatic calculations within the spreadsheet are dependent upon correct data entry.
For example, if either Robert H. or Robert M. simply put Robert, neither one of them will get credit for their hours until their entry is changed to Robert H. or Robert M.
HOW YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS ARE CALCULATED
At the end of every week, Kathy goes in and enters the hours worked into the HOURS red column in the spreadsheet.
HOW TO VIEW AND VERIFY YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS
Each volunteer's hours and sign ups are displayed on a unique page.
You can view your hours by going to the 2026 Volunteer Hours page, and then click on your name.
As shown in the image below, your name should be in the top right along with your cumulative hours. Underneath are each session you have signed up for. If there are no hours entered in a session, the sessions hours have not been entered in yet.
HOW TO CORRECT YOUR HOURS
If there are problems with your hours, please contact Kathy so that you can work together with her to correct your hours.
