APRIL 3,  2026 -- UPDATE

Howdy! 

Here's a quick update regarding our upcoming Idaho Pickleball in Prison season. 

PICKLEBALL PLAY AT FACILITIES WILL START BY THE END OF APRIL

Mark Fisher and I are working with the facilities to get pickleball play started. 

More information will be sent to you by April 10 including a schedule and how to sign up to volunteer.

This rest of this document will cover volunteer application status, training status, and orientation status. 

It also will give you just a bit of information on the actual playing at facilities with more information coming by April 10. 

FOR VOLUNTEERS WHO STARTED in 2025

You are all set to volunteer in 2026! 

My understanding is that you have to renew your volunteer training by the end of 2026. 

If you want to sign up for a session, please go to the IDOC VOLUNTEER TRAINING page. 

Most of the training is the same as when you first took the training, but there is some new material. 

FOR VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE STARTING IN 2026

This covers your application status, your volunteer training status and your orientation status. 

APPLICATION STATUS: 

All applications have been approved except for Barry, Robert, and Karen. 

Robert + Barry: I have emailed the Volunteer Service Coordinator for Treasure Valley Community Reentry Center to ask about the status of your applications and will let you know what I hear back from them. 

Karen: It will take at least a month for your volunteer application to be approved.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING STATUS: 

Deb, Gail, and Matthew have completed their volunteer training. 

Barry, Colleen, Karen, Robert, and Stacia are scheduled to complete their volunteer training on April 16. I will attend that training with you all and send you a reminder before the training with instructions on where to go. 

ORIENTATION STATUS: 

Before you begin volunteering at a Community Reentry Center, you will need to complete an orientation at at least one CRC. 

Before you begin volunteering at a non-CRC facility, you will need to complete an orientation at that facility.
